Super Bowl 2011's Jilted Fans Suing NFL; Should They Take What the League Gives Them?

When safety concerns forced the closing of over 1,000 seats at Super Bowl XLV, each of those 1,250 fans found themselves without a seat. The NFL relocated 850 of them, but 400 missed the game entirely.

The NFL is offering each of those fans $2,400 to make up for their seats, or the opportunity to attend any future Super Bowl game featuring their favorite team on the league's dime.

But, apparently, that wasn't sufficient for some fans, who are doing what has become standard operating procedure for Americans who feel wronged somehow: they're suing the NFL.

Over 1,000 fans have joined the suit, claiming they were deceived by the NFL, as they were denied seats or given inadequate seats.

To those who don't think $2,400 or the opportunity to go to another Super Bowl is enough, and want more, there's just one thing I have to say to them: be thankful the league is giving you anything.

The NFL doesn't typically play nice in situations like this. They're big enough that the gripes of 1,250 fans barely register in their memory banks.

So to get that much money (three times the tickets' face value) or the promise of another Super Bowl from the league is pretty good.

What more do you want? The fans suing the league are after something else; but what that could be, I don't know. What I do know is that the NFL could easily take their offer off the table and bury them in litigation.

Don't milk your misfortune; just take your money (or your tickets) and be happy you got anything from the No Fun League.
