Eminem Says He's In The Studio With Dr. Dre

But MTV News' 2010 Hottest MC in the Game also reveals he's considering 'taking a break.'

Eminem branched out on his hit comeback Recovery, taking a break from working mostly with mentor Dr. Dre and bringing in a whole new slate of producers who twisted up his sound and helped Slim Shady put together what is so far the best-selling album of 2010.
But after that brief detour, the Detroit MC is back to his old tricks, hooking up with Dre to record some new tracks. The rapper called in to Angela Yee's "The Morning After" show on the sixth anniversary of the launch of his Shade 45 Sirius satellite channel on Thursday and revealed that he and Dre are working on music together.
"I'm in the studio with Dre now, let's just say that," Em said, reluctant to cough up details on where the songs the pair are recording might end up. "Pretty soon he's going to make a beat and I might rap on it."
Dre, of course, is still working on his years-in-the-making purported rap finale, Detox, and when pressed to confirm that he's working on tracks from the album, Em said, "Other than that I can neither confirm nor deny."
Despite being on a major roll with Recovery, and his wildly received co-headlining dates with Jay-Z on the Home and Home Tour in Detroit and New York, it sounds like Em is slowing the train down again. He said he's "taking a break" for now, though he also revealed that he will release a third single from Recovery, though he declined to say which song it would be.
It's not like he's disappearing completely, even if Nicki Minaj is still shocked she got Em to lay down a verse on the track "Roman's Revenge" from her upcoming debut, Pink Friday. "It was the most fun song on Pink Friday," she told host Sway during this week's episode of "RapFix Live." "It gave me life. Absolutely, darling."

Love the Way You Lie

Perhaps less shocked, but no less psyched is Rihanna, who teams up with Em again on her upcoming album, Loud, for the sequel to their smash hit "Love the Way You Lie." On "Love (Part II)," the singer gets to tell her side of the story of a love affair gone wrong.
What do you think of Em considering another break after his successful comeback? Is it too soon? Tell us in the comments!

World Series 2010 Game 2 & World Series score: Giants beat Rangers 9-0 - New Delhi Chronicle.com

World Series 2010 Game 2 & World Series score: Giants beat Rangers 9-0. The much-hyped World Series baseball games are being held between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers in San Francisco and Texas. The seven game-series is, of course, a great enjoyment for baseballs fans across the world.
Anyhow, this year’s World Series has some significance because there are the Giants and the Rangers as contestants. What are the qualities of these two teams to reach in World Series? Yes, there are some special things with these two teams to be in the World Series 2010.
The Giants and the Rangers are two teams with an admired capability for all-hands and team effort in winning games. Their best performances in the field are born out of team effort, not just relied upon a few super stars. This is, in fact, the major benefit of the Rangers and the Giants when they meet each other in World Series games.
See, how did the Rangers and the Giants advance into 2010 World Series? They trounced two super powers in baseball - the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies – in the American League Championship games. Both the Yankees and the Phillies are named for their player’s high payrolls and super star players. But, in front of the Giants and the Rangers’ team work, the Yankees and the Phillies were nothing.
“We don’t have the most talented lineup. We don’t have superstars. But we play with a lot of heart,” says the Giants player Cody Ross. You know Ross was a player, who was in the brink of sacking by the Florida Mariners.
But right now he is the star player for the Giants, not only that Ross is the man, who brings ups the streaks of victories for the Giants. Further, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the National League Championship Series. It means that team effort and hard work do many things in baseball. That is what the Giants and the Rangers are proving right now.

Microsoft deserves credit for going against the iPhone-clone trend. But that may not matter

By Rich Jaroslovsky
For a tech company, a late product can be as deadly as a bad one. That may be the situation confronting Microsoft (MSFT) as it releases Windows Phone 7, its new smartphone operating system. The software is fun, easy to use, and not just another iPhone wannabe. The bad news: It might be too late for good news.

Windows Phone 7 Series: With a Stronger Consumer Apps Play, It's Positioned to Move Beyond the Mobile Phone

Once a major player in handheld devices, Microsoft has seen its market position tumble since the 2007 arrival of the iPhone and the more recent explosion of handsets running Google's (GOOG) Android operating system. Its comeback attempts have fared as badly as Mike Tyson's: Last year an update of Microsoft's previous software was roundly panned; this year, two new phones aimed at young social- networkers were killed off in less than two months.
Unlike those efforts, Windows Phone 7 is nothing to be embarrassed about. Microsoft deserves credit for doing some things that go against the prevailing smartphone norm. Instead of a screen covered with little app icons, users get a set of colorful rectangles that Microsoft calls "live tiles." Some provide information at a glance and summon basic functions—the phone tile, for instance, tells you how many calls you've missed and brings up the dial pad. Others link to frequently used programs, such as a mobile version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. Still others are entry points for Windows Phone 7's Big Idea: the "hubs." These are collections of programs, information, and functions organized around a single theme.

Buy Windows 7 Phone

There are six hubs: People, Pictures, Music & Videos, Marketplace, Microsoft Office, and Games. The People hub, for instance, aggregates your address book, Facebook friend list, and updates in one place. Music & Videos is based on Microsoft's Zune software, which is easy to use and syncs with content on your computer. Pictures is a home for your snapshots and a portal to others' Facebook photos. The hubs are easy to grasp, but not nearly comprehensive enough. Facebook is well integrated into the People hub—but Twitter isn't. The Pictures hub is great if you use Facebook or Windows Live. Prefer Flickr? It's a hassle. You can customize the home screen with your own tiles or add apps, but you'll find yourself scrolling through tiresome lists.
The first batch of handsets running the new software goes on sale Nov. 8. I used it on two that AT&T (T) will offer, the HTC Surround and Samsung Focus. (More than 20 phones are expected to hit the global market by Christmas.) Microsoft will be spending big to advertise them and provide incentives for manufacturers, carriers, and developers to make Windows Phone 7 a hit. The company finally has a good offering, but good may not be good enough.

Droid Sales Boost Motorola Earnings - The Epoch Times

By Antonio Perez
Epoch Times Staff Created: Oct 28, 2010 Last Updated: Oct 28, 2010

A Motorola Droid smart phone running Android. Strong sales of the Droid smartphone pushed Motorola's third-quarter revenues to a robust $5.8 billion. (George Frey/Getty Images)
NEW YORK—Not since the days of the RAZR has Motorola Inc. enjoyed this much success in the cell phone market.
The revival of the company’s phone business starts with its Droid lineup of smartphones. Strong sales of its Droid X and Droid 2 smartphones pushed the company’s third-quarter revenues to a robust $5.8 billion, $400 million higher than the same quarter last year.
Net income for the quarter rose to $109 million, the company said in an earnings release.
Motorola is riding the wave of Android, Google Inc.’s immensely popular smartphone platform, which during the latest quarter, surpassed Apple Inc.’s iPhone as the most popular smartphone platform in the U.S. market.
The company has seen its fortunes turn around since it released its Droid smartphones on the Verizon Wireless platform in the United States. Its cell phone business has struggled to keep up with competitors since its last hit phone, the RAZR series of flip-phones.
“I see the job of transforming this organization is half done,” said Sanjay Jha, CEO of the company’s mobile phone business on a Wall Street analyst conference call on Thursday. “Launching over 20 Smartphone devices and achieving profitability have been major goals for us in the transition of this business.”
Competition from iPhone
A major question looming over Motorola’s future is Apple iPhone’s possible entrance on Verizon’s network. For the past two years, Verizon has been building its lineup of Android devices to compete with rival AT&T Inc., which has been Apple’s sole distributor in the U.S. market.
The technology press has reported over the last several months that Apple may be readying a Verizon-compatible iPhone for a first quarter 2011 release.
Responding to the prospects of a Verizon-based iPhone, Jha said, “We think the DROID franchise is economically very valuable for Verizon, and they will continue to invest and foster the DROID franchise.”
“We will also diversify our portfolio within United States with other operators. We are also focused on diversifying our portfolio outside of the United States,” he continued.

San Francisco Giants' offense has outburst against Cliff Lee, Texas Rangers

Updated: October 28, 2010, 7:49 AM ET

San Francisco pounds Cliff Lee and earns another postseason win against big-name arm

SAN FRANCISCO -- Cliff Lee didn't see this coming. But then again, we're pretty sure Miss Cleo didn't see this coming.
In a World Series game started by Lee and Tim Lincecum -- here in The Year of the Pitcher and The Postseason of the Pitcher, and in a game played in one of the most beloved pitcher's ballparks on planet Earth -- what the heck just happened?
An insane 11-7 game happened. That's what. A game featuring 18 runs, 25 hits, 10 extra-base hits, six errors and 12 pitchers happened. That's what.
And, most astounding of all, a game in which the invincible Clifton Phifer Lee gave up seven runs, and five doubles -- and threw 104 pitches without even making it through the fifth inning -- happened. That's what.
So suppose we'd told you before Game 1 of this World Series, as two Cy Youngs headed out to pitch, that THAT'S what was about to unfurl Wednesday night. Just think what you would have said.
"I mean, if you'd thrown 100 bucks at Vegas," quipped Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff, after his team's Game 1 mugging of Lee, "you'd probably be a millionaire. Wouldn't you?"
Well, not that we'd endorse that sort of thing, and not that we've consulted any oddsmakers on this, but … YES. We believe you would. Possibly even a billionaire. Because the more we think about it, the more we think the odds of this kind of game breaking out were longer than the odds of Lindsay Lohan becoming the next pope. So let's run down how unlikely all of this was:
• Lee came into this game with a 1.26 career postseason ERA. That's eight starts, nine earned runs. So what were the chances that, in this game, he would allow seven runs, six earned, in a span of 15 hitters?
[+] EnlargeCody Ross
Jed Jacobsohn/Getty ImagesThe Giants' offense -- yes, the offense -- led San Francisco in Game 1.
• In Lee's previous eight postseason starts, the opposition had scored a total of 14 runs against him and all the relievers who formed his backup band in those games. So what were the chances that, in this game, the Giants -- never previously mistaken for the '95 Indians -- would score 11?
• In Lee's three previous starts this October -- against the Rays and Yankees, two teams that outscored the Giants by a combined 267 runs this year -- he faced 87 hitters and gave up a total of two runs and three extra-base hits. So what were the chances that, in this game, he'd face 24 Giants hitters and give up seven runs (six earned) and five extra-base hits?
• And before this game, the Giants had scored more than four runs in a game ONCE since Sept. 25. That was 4½ weeks ago. So what were the chances that, in this game, they'd score six runs in one INNING, with five of them coming off Lee?
OK, you know exactly what the chances were, don't you? Because even the ecstatic roster of the team that won this game knew what the chances were.
"NO chance," said Giants hit machine Cody (Mr. October) Ross. "Especially on this stage, and in this moment."
But in baseball, stuff happens. It's bound to happen, even when the calendar says it's October. Even when it involves a pitcher who starts the night being compared to Sandy Koufax, and he's facing an offense that came into this game hitting .231 in the postseason and thought "double figures" was some kind of skating term.
Before this game, the Giants had played exactly two home games all year in which they'd spliced together 11 runs, 14 hits and seven extra-base hits in the same game. Next thing they knew, everybody was hitting a double in this game except Tony Bennett.
"Our pitching has been there all year, man," said Huff, who had three hits. "It's about time WE showed up."
Before this game, the Giants hadn't won a single postseason game by more than THREE runs. In fact, they hadn't won any kind of game by more than three runs since Sept. 23.
"So we needed this one," Ross chuckled, "for our psyche."
And this man wasn't joking, either. He plays for a team whose motto -- brilliantly coined by play-by-play genius Duane Kuiper -- is: "Giants baseball -- torture." But while that line may be guaranteed to make you laugh, there's only one problem with playing for the team that specializes in torture:
It really IS torture to be playing one-run games every single night in October.
"Look at me," Ross deadpanned. "I'm bald now. Look at Eli Whiteside. He's got a ton of gray hair. (Author's note: In truth, that baldness and grayness set in years ago, but you get the idea).
"It IS tough," he went on. "It really is. It takes a lot out of you -- emotionally and physically. Buster [Posey] and I were talking about that in Philly after another one-run game there. He was saying, 'I don't know how much more I can take of this.' Then I came back and said, 'How do the Phillies do this every year?' But I mean, I see why. This is what you live for. This is what you play for. But it's definitely tough, when it's torturous."
On nights like this one, however, you realize there's one thing all of us may have missed while we were picking apart the stuff the Giants don't do -- which was to notice the stuff they do do. And at the top of that list this postseason is this:
They beat great pitching.
They've now won games this postseason started by Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt, Cole Hamels, Derek Lowe and Tim Hudson. And before every one of those games, they had to listen to us baseball geniuses spew nonstop hype about how unbeatable all those guys can be at their best.
The Giants hitters were well aware of that hype. They just happened to buy into none of it.
"Oh, we listen to some of it," Ross said. "We ignore a little. But we also feed off it. We like being the underdog. … We like the fact that nobody really gives us a chance, and we feed off that. But we're not scared. I'll tell you that. That's the last thing we're thinking about."
And never was that more apparent than in this game. They spotted the Rangers a run in each of the first two innings -- which meant that to win this game they were going to have to score at least three times, against a pitcher who hadn't given up three runs all month.
But this was not the same Cliff Lee.
This Cliff Lee kicked and pawed at the dirt on the mound all night like a guy who could never get comfortable. He had no feel for his off-speed stuff -- throwing just six of 16 curves and changeups for strikes. So he had to lean, more than ever, on his fastball and cutter, and he even had shaky command of his money pitches.
"I was trying to make adjustments," Lee would say later. "I was up. I was down. I was in. I was out. Nothing was working. My fastball and cutter, I wasn't really able to command either one consistently. … I made some good pitches, too. But for the most part, I was erratic. I couldn't get consistent locating pitches."
Meanwhile, the Giants came into this duel with a game plan that actually worked: Lay off the off-speed stuff. Attack the fastball. And it worked.

Dobbs We've been playing a lot of one-run ballgames. And you ARE allowed to score 10 runs every once in a while.
-- Giants closer Brian Wilson
"Our plan was, stay on the fastball," said their hitting coach, Hensley (Bam-Bam) Meulens. "We knew he had a good curve and cutter, but we were going to stay on his fastball. He throws a lot of fastballs for a guy who has good secondary pitches. He throws 75 percent fastballs. So we stayed on them. And he made enough mistakes. And we were able to capitalize on those mistakes."
Michael Young made the first of those mistakes, by clanking a leadoff roller by Edgar Renteria to kick off the third inning. Then Lee, who hit one batter during the entire regular season, drilled Andres Torres with an 0-2 pitch. And that turned into a game-tying two-run rally -- which could have been worse if Lee hadn't scrambled out of trouble by whiffing Pat Burrell and Ross with two on.
But two innings later, the madness erupted. Freddy Sanchez's third double in three trips put the Giants ahead 3-2. Next, after a walk to Burrell, Lee went 1-2 on Ross, left a fastball up and watched Ross smoke it right past his noggin for the hit that made it 4-2. And this game would never be the same.
Suddenly, the Texas bullpen was cranking. The orange pom-poms were shaking. The Giants' dugout was a disco. And 43,000 witnesses were obliterating their vocal cords.
"It was electric," closer Brian Wilson said. "You couldn't ask for a better crowd, on a better night, in a better month."
Then Huff stroked another RBI hit up the middle to make it 5-2. And shockingly, Cliff Lee was done.
"They made me throw a ton of pitches in the fifth inning," Lee would say afterward, not real happily. "I have to do a better job of damage control. That's unacceptable."
And also practically incomprehensible.
Since Lee was traded by the Indians to the Phillies more than 15 months ago, he'd made 48 starts. In only one of them did he allow six earned runs or more and fail to get through the fifth inning. That was Sept. 4, 2009 against Houston -- 42 starts ago.
Three pitches after he left this game, the irrepressible Juan Uribe launched yet another game-changing home run -- a three-run monster that was headed for San Rafael when the left-field bleachers got in the way. And that meant this was, somehow or other, an 8-2 baseball game -- with seven of those runs charged to a man who had started this night with the third-best postseason ERA (1.26) of any starting pitcher in history who had made five starts of more.
[+] EnlargeCliff Lee
Jed Jacobsohn/Getty ImagesCliff Lee didn't have his best stuff, and for once, the Giants took advantage.
But by the time Lee twisted the shower knobs, he owned just the 18th-best ERA in postseason history (1.96). And by the time he finished toweling off, his team had given up 11 (count 'em, 11) runs -- to the hitless wonders of October. It was the first time any team had scored 11 times in a game Lee started since June 30, 2009, when the White Sox did it. That was 54 starts -- and four teams -- ago.
"Tonight," Huff said, "you just saw one of those nights where, every two or three weeks, we actually score more than three runs. It just happened to happen in Game 1 of the World Series."
But in fact, this was not just some random event in the universe. Throughout this postseason, this has been as prepared a team as you'll ever watch play baseball in October. And it showed up again Wednesday along the shores of McCovey Cove, when the Giants found a way to do something the Rays and Yankees couldn't do -- beat the mighty Clifton P. Lee.
"The thing about our team is," Ross said, "we're a free-swinging team. And the Yankees take a lot of pitches. We're aggressive. And we knew we were going to be aggressive -- even when he had 0-2 counts, or 1-2. We knew he was going to come right at us. Rarely is he ever out of the zone. And it worked to our advantage, I think."
Well, here's what really works to their advantage. The last nine teams to win Game 1 of the World Series at home have gone on to win the whole shebang. And no team has lost after doing that since the 1992 Braves.
They aren't going to win this way every night. But who knew they'd EVER win a World Series game quite like this? Who knew they even had it in them?
"We've been playing a lot of one-run ballgames," said Brian Wilson. "And you ARE allowed to score 10 runs every once in a while."
Even, apparently, in games started by a fellow named Cliff Lee.

Eminem Duet Revealed On Rihanna's Loud Track List

The pair hooked up for 'Love the Way You Lie (Part II)' on Rihanna's new album.

Though Lady Gaga didn't make the cut for Rihanna's November 16 release, Loud, it turns out that duets with Drake, Nicki Minaj and Eminem did.
According to RocNation, the official track list for Rihanna's fun-loving new album includes many songs that have already been revealed, including "What's My Name?" featuring Drake and her track with Nicki Minaj, "Raining Men." But a previously rumored track, a sequel to her hit song with Eminem, "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)," will also reportedly be included on the album.
According to Justjared.com, Rihanna sings, "Even angels have their wicked schemes/ And you take that to new extremes/ But you will always be my hero/ Even though you lost your mind," on the Eminem track, which was produced by Alex Da Kid.
Although there had been a rumored Katy Perry track on the album, the track list doesn't mention the "California Gurls" singer anywhere.
According to the list, the 11-track album includes the songs "S&M"; "Cheers (Drink to That)"; "Fading"; her single, "Only Girl (in the World)"; "California King Bed"; "Man Down"; "Complicated"; and "Skin."
"I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you've got some great songs to justify it," Rihanna said about the album's up-tempo vibe. "I didn't want to go backward and remake [2007's] Good Girl Gone Bad. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it's perfect for us."
Last week, Rihanna switched up her management team. The singer will now be managed by her longtime mentor and former Def Jam exec Jay-Z. In a statement, she said she's "so excited to take this next step in my career." Rihanna also shared that she is creating a company called Rihanna Entertainment that will "merge all of her businesses, including music, film, fragrance, fashion and book ventures."
